Pōhutukawas in Mission Bay

At the start of the New Zealand summer the Pōhutukawas are taking over the coastal areas of the North Island with their beautiful red flowers. These trees are always in bloom around Christmas time, and therefore also nicknamed New Zealand Christmas Tree. In December 2011 I took some photos in Mission Bay, with the iconic Rangitoto Island as a backdrop.
